How to disassemble the Toyota Highlander shock absorber?

1. First, loosen the nuts of Highlander's four wheels (generally, the four shock absorbers are replaced at the same time) in a diagonal order, do not completely unscrew them.

2. Then use a lift to lift the Highlander. It does not need to be too high. The wheels can just be off the ground for a certain distance, which is convenient for operation.

3. Next, use the sleeve to completely unscrew the wheel nuts in a diagonal order, and then remove the Highlander wheel.

4. Highlander may need to remove the brake cylinder in order to remove the shock absorber, then remove the arm fixing bolts, and then loosen the fixing nuts of the spring strut arm

5. Use a caliper jack to fix the damping arm, open the Highlander engine hood and loosen the upper body fixing nut of the shock absorber (not completely unscrewed), turn the caliper jack to lift the damping arm up until the shock absorber Separate the lower end from the front axle fixing place, then slowly move the shock absorber, and then slowly lower the shock absorber arm until the shock absorber elasticity is completely released, completely loosen the body fixing nut at the upper end of the shock absorber, and remove the shock absorber.

6. After removing the shock absorber, use the shock absorber spring disassembler to fix the spring to avoid the spring moving up and escaping when the top screw is removed. It is best to disassemble the shock absorber by 2 repairmen, one is responsible for supporting, and the other One screwed.

7. Disassemble and replace the damaged parts of the shock absorber and the rubber shield. Generally, if the shock absorber spring is not severely corroded or broken, it does not need to be replaced.

8. When reassembling the shock absorber, grease should be applied to improve the anti-wear properties.

9. Fix the upper end of the assembled shock absorber with the car body, do not fix it in place, just make sure that the shock absorber will not fall.

10. Use a caliper jack to fix the shock absorber arm and lift the shock absorber arm upwards to ensure that the lower part of the shock absorber can be placed on the front axle support. Use bolts to fix the lower end of the shock absorber arm and the front axle together and fix it. The nut of the spring strut arm, and then screw the body fixing nut at the upper end of the shock absorber into place. Follow the same steps to replace the remaining three shock absorbers.
