Solution to oil leakage of car shock absorber

Dec 07, 2021

1. If there are oil stains on the surface of the shock absorber cylinder, it is not necessarily an oil leak. To determine whether the shock absorber has leaked oil failure, it is necessary to judge whether it needs to be replaced according to factors such as the style of the shock absorber, the leakage level, and the location of the oil trace. For shock absorbers that have only slight leakage, they do not need to be replaced. In addition, the shock absorber may leak oil during normal operation.

2. But for the strut type shock absorber, the front shock absorber does not need to be replaced when the oil film is between the oil seal cover and the spring seat. However, if oil leaks to the position below the spring seat, or oil penetrates to the position below the spring bracket, or drops of oil appear, the shock absorber needs to be replaced.
